2009 Volunteer of the Year
Betty Blanchard

On May 11, 2009, Barton County Memorial Hospital recognized Betty Blanchard of Sheldon, Barton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s first Volunteer of the Year.  A plaque was presented to Mrs. Blanchard’s daughter Cathy Blanchard, as Mrs. Blanchard was unable to attend the ceremony.

Mrs. Blanchard has been volunteering for the Hospital Auxiliary since March 2008, by making tea-towels with beautiful embroidery work.  The tea-towels are sold in the hospital gift shop with the proceeds donated to the Hospital Auxiliary for the benefit of the patients.  To date, Mrs. Blanchard has made 100 of her very special towels.
