Experts say that in an emergency it is critically important to get to the closest hospital within 20 minutes. Fortunately for our region, BCMH’s Emergency Department is strategically located 20 minutes or less from nearly all of the communities we serve.
BCMH’s emergency team cares for more than 9,000 patients each year. We provide critical care during life-threatening emergencies, treating heart attacks, broken bones, accidental injuries, and much, much more. Each patient has his or her own unique needs and each receives individualized care to meet those needs.
Emergency care is a highly specialized discipline with extraordinary demands. Our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine, and although it’s not a state requirement, our nurses must obtain ongoing training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). In addition, many of our nurses are Certified Emergency Nurses.
BCMH's critical care transfer team provides stabilizing care and rapid transfer by ambulance or helicopter for those who require specialized care offered at a tertiary center.
Residents and visitors in the Barton County area can rest easy, knowing BCMH is providing both ‘high-tech’ sophisticated medicine along with ‘high-touch’ compassionate care.”
